Student Ambassador Program

Student Ambassadors are Nonprofit Minor Students who represent the Institute for Nonprofits to the student population and broader community. Ambassadors undergo training and assist in promoting our Nonprofit Studies Minor as well as other Institute service initiatives and special events.

Meet our Institute for Nonprofits Ambassadors:
	Kyle Burns Sophomore, Political Science (Public Policy) Interests: Outdoor enthusiast, violin and guitar “I am interested in being a Nonprofit Studies Minor Ambassador to grow personally and professionally and also to promote awareness about the role that the nonprofit sector plays in everyone’s life.”

	Ashley Davis Senior, Political Science (Public Policy) & Sociology minor Interests: Nonprofits dealing with children, socioeconomic development and voting “I wanted to be a Nonprofit Studies Minor Ambassador because I have a passion for working with nonprofits and helping people. One of my favorite quotes is by Shirley Chisom and it says, ‘Service is the rent that you pay for room on this earth’.”
	Megan Jones Sophomore, Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management (Program Management) Interests: NC State Athletics and volunteering “Nonprofit work has been something that I have been involved in since the age of four. I truly believe that we all can give something back to others around us as described in a quote by Albert Pine that I live by that says, ‘What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.’ I am very excited to be a Nonprofit Studies Minor Ambassador to spread the word about this incredible minor!”
	Monique McLeary Junior, Biological Science Interests: Health care and working with under privileged children “I would like to share my experience being a nonprofit minor student with others in hopes that I can spark interest and help to build a bridge connecting the many areas of study at NCSU with nonprofit studies. That way, we can all use our professional skills to work towards a better tomorrow.”
	Sarah Nilson Junior, Sociology & Communications (Public Relations) Interests: Working with children and helping others become familiar with NC State! “I hope that being a Nonprofit Studies Minor Ambassador will give me the opportunity to show other students how beneficial the minor can be. Many students have no idea how vast and important the nonprofit sector is within our everyday lives and I hope to shed some light on the issue. In the minor, I have already had a wonderful experience interning with Marbles Kids Museum that has helped me to grow as a person and has helped me to realize how important the nonprofit sector is to so many fields.”
	Katie Olrich Sophomore, Management Interests: Sustainable nonprofits, sports in general (but focused on NC State sports) “The nonprofit sector is where I’d like to work, and this semester I’m starting my business plan for my own nonprofit through my entrepreneurship and business classes. I’d like some more experience in a leadership position, specifically a more formal one like being an ambassador. enjoy helping people and getting people interested in nonprofits, especially sustainable nonprofits, where they make their own money and don’t rely so much on fundraising”
	Cali Wickert Junior, Communication (Public and Interpersonal) Interests: International Development and photography “I joined the Nonprofit Minor as a way to further my interest in helping the community and give back. In the future I hope to work for a nonprofit in some way dealing with International Development. By being a Nonprofit Minor Studies Ambassador I will be able to share my interest with others and show others how important nonprofits are.”
