Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management

The department of Public Administration, with the cooperation of the Institute for Nonprofits, has developed a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management. This 15-credit program, which carries graduate credit, is targeted to individuals working in or planning careers in the nonprofit sector.

Core courses for the Certificate include:
  • Management of Nonprofit Organizations
  • Nonprofit Budgeting and Financial Management
  • Fund Development
  • Human Resources Management in Public and Nonprofit Organizations
Elective courses include:
  • Grant Writing
  • Service, Facilities and Events Marketing
  • Contract Negotiation and Mediation in the Public and Nonprofit Sectors
  • Ethics and Professional Practices
  • Nonprofit Marketing and Public Relations

Substantial nonprofit experience or an internship is required of candidates for the Certificate in Nonprofit Management. More about the Graduate Certificate.

Masters of Public Administration in Nonprofit Management

The 40-credit Masters of Public Administration (MPA) with a specialization in Nonprofit Management provides students with the management knowledge and skills that complement the course work in the Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management.  The MPA core curriculum develops competencies in areas such strategic management, organizational behavior, public policy, quantitative research and ethics. Ph.D. Course - Nonprofit Sector Research

This course, open to PhD students from any discipline, provides students with a broad background on nonprofit sector research, as well as a base of knowledge
