2008 Faculty Research Award Recipients

Assistant Professor Susan Bracken (Department of Adult and Higher Education), "Women’s Giving Circles: Understanding and Building Capacity for Social Change.”  The study uses feminist organizational theory to frame its examination of member involvement and organizational structure and maturity.  It approaches these questions with interpretive case studies.

Assistant Professor Richards Waters (Department of Communication), “Increasing the Understanding of Major Gift Fundraising:  Applying Negotiation Theory to Charitable Giving.”  This study applies existing theories of communication and models of negotiation to the process of generating major gifts. It uses depth interviews with fundraisers and donors and also solicits information about negotiations that did not lead to gifts. (more...)
