Internship Description:

Urban Ministries of Wake County engages our community to serve and advocate on behalf of those affected by poverty by providing food and nutrition, promoting health and wellness, and by laying the foundations of home. 

Development Intern

This individual will support fundraising initiatives, development of promotional and marketing materials, and social media campaigns.  In return, Urban Ministries of Wake County will provide an opportunity for the intern to gain valuable, real work experience with event planning, fundraising and the day-to-day development activities of a nonprofit organization.  

Skills & Interests:  Marketing and Communications, Business Development and Administration, Event Planning and Management, Graphic Design

Responsibilities and requirements include, but are not limited to the following:

-Support the execution of fundraising events; including vendor management, development of promotional material, providing ”day of” support, and event close-out activities   

-Administrative support including database updates, mailings, and special projects as needed

-Conduct research on potential donors and strategic partners

-Design fundraising materials, assist with the development and deployment of online and print marketing material, including social media campaigns and organization website 

-Research skills, including the ability to analyze and effectively summarize information


Internship Length


Interns commit to 10-15 hours a week for a minimum of 14 weeks from January 7 – May 3, 2019.  We are flexible with personal vacation, school hours and holidays.  Medical internship schedules are Mon – Thurs when our clinic is open.


Personal transportation (we are not directly on a bus line).  If selected, applicant must complete a separate application and attend mandatory Internship Orientation on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 1-3pm.

All applicants need to be:
Proficient with Microsoft Office

Detail-oriented, organized and self-motivated

Outgoing and enthusiastic team player able to work independently and with a team

Able to research and analyze data and effectively summarize information

Posse clear written and verbal communication skills

You will receive a receipt notification of completed application within 48 business hours of submission.

Internship offers will be extended to applicants no later than 5:00 pm on Thursday, December 14, 2019.
