Disaster Services Department Home Fire Campaign Intern Reports to: Disaster Program Specialist Triangle Area Chapter Scope of Work/Project: Every day in the U.S.A., on average, seven people are killed in a home fire and another 36 people suffer injuries. To end these tragedies and save lives, the American Red Cross launched a nationwide Home Fire Campaign (HFC) in 2014 with the goal of reducing the number of home fire deaths and injuries by 25 percent by 2020. As of October 2017, the HFC efforts nationwide have resulted in over 1 million alarms installed and 285 confirmed lives saved.
Leading a primarily volunteer team to meet the Triangle Area Chapter’s portion of the Regional installation goal
Work collaboratively with Volunteer Services and Disaster Services staff to recruit and train volunteers
Lead at least one Sound the Alarm event
Establish partnerships within the community to extend and maximize the reach of the HFC program
