Activate Good’s mission is to activate volunteers to help charitable causes in our local community. We connect individuals, groups, and companies to volunteer needs with over 480 nonprofit partners around the Triangle area. Activate Good envisions a world in which volunteering and doing good for others is part of everyday life, all people realize and exercise their potential to make a difference, and good causes get the help they need to make positive changes in the communities they serve.
Activate Good seeks a summer intern who is currently enrolled in a post-secondary program with youth, education, and/or behavioral needs and is looking to gain experience working in a nonprofit, public and/or social services, education, or youth programming capacity.
Responsibilities: The intern will support Activate Good’s Youth Programs Coordinator in implementing our annual Teens Change The World! 2019 Summer Program, which is a week-long program offered twice over the summer for rising freshman through rising seniors in high school (ages 14-18). The 2019 Summer Program weeks are June 17-21 and July 15-19. Applicants should be available to work on-site with participating youth during these dates. Duties will include event and service project planning and leadership, fundraising, marketing, overseeing activities and presentations, actively engaging and leading youth in meaningful conversation about volunteerism and social change, and helping to create a fun, productive, and welcoming environment for all teens. Requirements: This position will be subject to a background check. Self-motivated, team player with the ability to meet deadlines, remain flexible and adjust to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills, with keen attention to details, as well as excellent problem-solving abilities. Have self-discipline and time management skills necessary to work both independently and with a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with familiarity with Google Drive / Docs. Must have/be willing to utilize own laptop. Possess a valid driver’s license as well as the ability to travel as needed to perform internship duties. Social media experience a plus.
