Internship Description:

The Volunteer Services department is responsible for recruiting and retaining a corps of volunteers that is vital to the operations of Urban Ministries. This individual will support the Manager of Volunteer Services with database management and special projects. In return, Urban Ministries of Wake County will provide an opportunity for the intern to gain valuable, real work experience with volunteer management, day-to-day activities, and project activities of a nonprofit organization.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
-Develop, implement, and analyze volunteer surveys to get feedback on volunteer motivations and experience.
-Create content for all volunteer emails
-Interview and write stories on volunteers for social media
-Create infographics on volunteer information for leadership team
-Update volunteer database with current volunteer information, pictures, holiday graphics, etc.
-Make improvements to volunteer application
-Learn various volunteer roles such as Front Desk Greeter and Food Pantry volunteer

Internship Length
Interns commit to 8-12 hours a week between August 19 and December 13, 2019. We are flexible with personal vacation, school schedules and holidays.

Requirements
Personal transportation (we are not directly on a bus line)

All applicants need to be:
– Proficient with Microsoft Office
– Detail-oriented, organized and self-motivated
– Outgoing and enthusiastic team player able to work independently and with a team
– Able to research and analyze data and effectively summarize information
– Possess clear written and verbal communication skills

Schedule
Volunteer Communications Intern schedule shifts are flexible between the hours of Monday – Friday from 9 – 5pm. Please include any availability in your cover letter and you will be assigned 2-3 regular shifts per week in your offer email.
